Many students might be interested to take online lessons, but have some trepidation - they have no idea what it looks like in practice, or if it will work for them.
The good news is, it works exactly as well as in-person lessons! I would know - I taught in-person for ten years before switching to online five years ago.
The second piece of good news is, you do not need to be very tech-savvy to make it work!
Here's what the experience is like on your end:
A few minutes before your lesson time, you make your way to your piano. You make sure you have your PDF lessons printed and ready, or available to read on a tablet/laptop; you set your video calling device in its pre-chosen place - somewhere I can see you and your piano keys from the side. (I can assist you in finding the best angle.)
At lesson time, you go to an in-browser video chat - no login necessary, and made specifically to be optimized for music lesson audio. We will be able to chat and go over assignments, get constructive feedback, and start new music - all using a combo of print and PDF books, and audio duet tracks.
You also get a chance to see my hands from an overhead first-person view, to see a model of proper technique, and for a visual aid to new concepts. It really is just like I'm there in your living room! The only difference is when you finish a piece, you have to place your own star sticker on it. :)
